GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

The IACLALS Newsletter contains several different sections.
The previous edition of the NL can be accessed on the website for reference.
https://www.iaclals.com/e-newsletter

Here are some general guidelines:

  1. A uniform format Style should be maintained for all submissions: MS Word, double-spaced and justified. Titles should be in Bold type; font size—12, Times New Roman.
  2. For awards received, please send just one of your photos, ideally while receiving the award.
  3. Information about new book publications should contain the cover image of the book, a short one paragraph write-up, and complete bibliographical details.
  4. The writer’s bio-note in all the categories—Reports, Book review, Creative writing, and Publications should not exceed a para (about 100 words).

Tributes/Obituaries (From September 2020 to February 2021)

  1. These will ideally be commissioned by the editor; but those interested may write in with an expression of interest.
  2. The entire piece should be up to 1000 words with a high-resolution passport sized photo of the subject.
  3. The obituary should contain the correct dates of the subject, and the content should be more than mere biographical details already available on the internet.
  4. Citations should be included wherever necessary.

Reports on Conferences/Seminars/Symposia (From September 2020 to February 2021)

  1. A report should not be more than 700 words. A statement about what was discussed in parallel sessions is sufficient, instead of a detailed description of the same. Similarly, the inaugural/valedictory session can be summed up briefly.
  2. As a general rule about photos: please send one photo/panel (post card size), preferably of the inaugural.

Book Reviews:

  1. Reviews must be of books that have been recently published between 2019-2020/2021 and must strictly be restricted to 1000 words. Reviews of older books will be published as per editorial discretion.
  2. The review must include the name of the book and author, publishing details, the number of pages, price/s of the edition/s.
  3. A short bio-note of not more than 100 words of the author writing the review.

Creative Writing:

  1. Each contributor may submit 4–5 poems.
  2. Each contributor may submit 1–2 short stories / 1–2 translations, not exceeding 5000 words each.
  3. All contributions should be accompanied by a brief bio-note and a recent photograph of the author.
  4. In case of translations, a paragraph or two about the source language writer and about the context of the story or poem(s) may be provided. The source language writer’s photograph can be included.
  5. Translations should be relevant from a literary and/or academic point of view.
  6. Images (if any) should be accompanied with appropriate citations.

Call for Papers/ Notices:

  1. CFPs and Calls for submissions should be for forthcoming events, clearly mentioning the important dates, and of interest to IACLALS Members.
  2. These should ideally not be longer than 800 words.
